A couple of years ago, I purchased Mandrake 8.1. I loaded it on my old Pentium
133 as a second OS to windoze 98 second attempt. I immediately had what I considered the equivalent of a PIII. It was noticeably
faster.
Since then, I have been watching the Linux community grow and change into a viable alternative operating system. I started with Mandrake 8.1 and progressed to 9.2. Currently I am using Redhat's Fedora 7 which appears to be more stable than the Mandrake distribution, although a little more work to setup...and it is a U.S. company.
Now I consider it a personal weakness if I boot into windoze.
If you are a person who likes to learn, and are not afraid of saving some serious cash, I recommend that you give it a try.
Just be careful to practice safe computing, and back everything up. If you want to discuss my experiences further,
feel free to email me. |
